This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain English rather than legal jargon.
Our approach to children's privacy
Playtopia is designed to be browsed with a child, not by a child alone. Our Kids' Corner — the toy wheel, the wishlist and the colouring activity — collects no personal information whatsoever. It uses no cookies, no analytics, asks for no names or ages, and the wishlist exists only in your browser's memory for the length of your visit. Close the page and it is gone from our perspective and yours.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. All forms on this website, including the enquiry, booking and newsletter forms, carry a "grown-ups only" notice and are intended for parents and guardians. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to fulfil your order or answer your message.
- When you place an order: your name, email address, delivery address, and the details of what you bought. Payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe — they never reach our servers and we cannot see them.
- When you contact us: the name, email address, phone number and message you choose to give us, plus any details about the event or order you are asking about.
- When you join the Playtopia Club: your email address only.
- Automatically: basic, aggregated information about how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate region, device type — used to understand what is working. This is not linked to your identity.
How we use it
- • To take payment and deliver your order, including any gift notes you write
- • To send order confirmations, dispatch notices and tracking information
- • To answer your questions and arrange play visits or parties
- • To send the newsletter you asked for (and nothing else, ever)
- • To meet our legal and accounting obligations
- • To spot and prevent fraud
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers who help us run the shop — our payment processor, our email delivery service, our web host and our delivery partners — each of whom may only use it to perform that service.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep your basket working and to keep you signed in during checkout. Where we use analytics, it is configured to avoid identifying you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; the shop will still work, though your basket may not persist between visits.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, or by asking us. We will always respond within 30 days.
We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, then delete them. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
